AP: KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysian authorities freed the editor of an anti-government news Web site Friday after a court decided that his arrest under a law allowing indefinite detention was illegal

Malaysian Insider: Raja Petra's alleged crimes were linked to his writing . For several years he has published provocative opinion pieces on the issues of the day, as well as a number of articles unmasking corruption scandals, drawing his information from a wide array of contacts. His blog, Malaysia Today, is one of the most popular sources of independent news in a country where the mainstream media refrains from criticising the government.

Malaysian Blogs

I started to build a list of Malayasian blogs. Eventually, I hope to build references, links to arts, but mostly bloggers. I believe very strongly in the power of bloggers to reshape attitudes and perceptions, and believe blogging is a way to connect distant cultures. I don't know quite how to do that, but the adventure begins, in part, by compiling the information, the links, needed to make it happen. Check out dcblogs.com and dcblogs.com/live you may get a sense of where I think this can go.

Why Malaysia? It's one of the countries that I find fascinating for its energy.
